Some songs find you later in life. "Tasogare no Bay City" (黄昏のBAY CITY), which means "Bay City at Twilight," is one of those songs for me.
The song
Junko Yagami released this song as a single on November 21, 1983. She wrote both the words and the music herself. Her voice is strong and clear, and it shines over a bright, dancing city pop sound, like the lights of a harbor town just after sunset.
Today, people all over the world are listening to it again. In a popular YouTube video where people from abroad ranked their favorite city pop songs, it came in second. I also heard that it has been sampled by many artists, and you can even find a remix by Night Tempo.
What I feel
To be honest, I do not remember hearing this song back then. But I have always loved Junko Yagami. I already wrote about her song Purple Town here on this blog, and her voice still stays in my heart.
So this time, I am listening to her song for the first time, together with the world. It feels new and familiar at the same time, and that is a little magical.

Is there a song that you found only many years later? I would love to know.
Thank you for listening with me. I hope this song stays in your heart, too.
