About Segaijin

The name “Segaijin” (世外人) carries a personal meaning: a person who walks the earth freely, from just outside its usual frames. In Japan, foreigners are sometimes called “Gaijin” — a word that, while common, can carry unintended nuance today. But whenever I travel abroad, I too become the “Gaijin.” So I embraced the word with love and made it the name of this blog. Traveling the globe, loving wine, connecting cultures — that’s me, Segaijin.

About this blog

On this blog, I write about the Japanese life, garden flowers and trees I love, and the Showa-era songs of my childhood (especially the 1980s), together with the stories behind them and my own memories. As Segaijin, I want to share them with you, wherever you are, if you love Japan.
